Cauldron: A cauldron is a large metal pot for cooking and/or boiling over an open fire, with a large mouth and frequently with an arc-shaped hanger.
Social? is it only in the numbers? Or is it in the attitude? Does the success of a social strategy, tactic, campaign or platform lay solely in sheer volume? Are we here to push content and collect data or are we here to effect behaviour?

There is no one answer, is there. ...and perhaps you'll agree that the "AND" is far mightier than the "OR".

I've found myself "collecting projects"... Projects I believe could be wonderful platforms, solid and successful businesses. AND having moved well beyond those fresh faced, head full of swirling grandiose ideas years, I am fully aware that each of these projects are in themselves, "meaningless without the money". As ideas, though, taking them beyond the mere thought bubble is immeasurably valuable.... I've come to appreciate that quite often a simmered stew with a side of mashed potatoes can be far more satisfying than a fast fried or flame broiled steak.

So how do we use social to...

explore the opportunity to opening our... MINDs 
      maintain & fine tuning our...  BODies
                  take ownership & good care of our... 
                                                                                                                                                   good BUSINESSes

I'm one of those who believe capitalism is baked into our brain stem... First and foremost, each of these projects are founded of a belief in their being good business; Is there a sound money making model. AND, is their an opportunity to "make the money" beyond just the collection eyeballs and a multple of mouse clicks? - An idea must answers the first and most solemn of questions... Where be-ist thy cash register?

Secondly, is there a valid value proposition for each of the parties and participants eventually involved... the operator, investor, user, customer, client and promotional partners? Is there a positive impact on the lives and/or business of each beyond just the dollar? 

These projects touch on other key concepts... one maybe more of the many notions of social that have  been near and dear to my heart for over these twenty years or more... community, camaraderie and the possibility of playfully beating the crap outta that fella right next to you, that fella you love and without whose interaction you're left with nothing much to do...

In keeping with the idea that this is all quite simple and painfully not easy... some snippets.

I get no kick from champagne... having half baked these ideas for, well over these 20 some years or more; I am more than happy to continue to "slow cook 'em". I'm happy to let other's run amok building apps that help us cache-cabs or build "filters" that format the littered left behinds of another's really worthy "brimming with content" project... or two.

If we were to find money and one of these were to take flight, so be it, I'd simply have something better, more concrete to do over these next and at least at last 30 some odd years I believe I have left in this business... If not, and in the meantime they remain what they are; merely acting as a valuable cauldron in which to pour in the ideas I've learned from all of you good people, sip from, test sample and refine the recipes I serve up to my good clients. They may turn out to be only add-ons to the next idea presented to me by some other (true believer).

Oh, by all means, if you'd like to learn more, I'm more than welcome to discuss these projects specifically... but of course, that'll cost you. :-)
